The Bloomington City Council on Monday joined Edina and St. Louis Park in voting to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21.
The council voted 6-0 following a couple hours of public testimony at its Monday night meeting.
The ordinance bans the sale of tobacco products to anyone under 21.
Meanwhile on Monday, the St. Cloud City Council also voted to raise the minimum purchasing age. But Mayor Dave Kleis said he would veto the measure, according to the group Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation.
