Christmas Fire in Burnsville 2nd in 2 Days at Mobile Home Park

December 26, 2017 10:18 PM

Three people are displaced after their home went up in flames on Christmas night at a mobile home park in Burnsville.

Randy Krusmark lives next door to the trailer that went up in flames. He says his neighbors came knocking on his door for help.

"It was on the far side, it started out small and then I tried to get it out but it was up in the insulation," he said. "And I couldn't squeeze the bottles to get it out, and then we ran around to the back side to see if the water was on, and I could see the fire on the other side and then it was out of control."

This is the second fire in the park in as many days. On Christmas Eve, four people were displaced after a separate fire.

Both homes were total losses, authorities say.

The Christmas fire started around 9:53 p.m., and the flames came from the bottom of the home, according to the department.

Firefighters had difficulty extinguishing the fire due to the cold weather. The hydrant closest to the home was frozen as temperatures were -12.

Firefighters used truck water.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in either case, and both remain under investigation.
