A 56-year-old New Prague man was killed near Belle Plaine when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old woman on Saturday.

The Minnesota State Patrol incident report says Phillip Andrew Ilg was traveling west on highway 25 on his bicycle near mile post 5 at 7:36 a.m. when he was struck from behind by the 2002 Ford Explorer traveling in the same direction. Ilg, who had been wearing a helmet, died at the scene. 


The driver of the Explorer was uninjured. 

No further details were available Sunday.
