St. Paul police are looking for an SUV driver who hit a bicyclist and fled early Sunday morning, leaving him with "grave injuries." 


The crash happened at 7th Street West and Grand Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., according to St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell. 

When officers arrived, they saw an unconscious man lying the road. Paramedics transported him to Regions Hospital, where he is in critical condition. 

As of Sunday afternoon, investigators were unable to identify the victim as they tried to locate friends, family or anyone who knows him. 

Witnesses said the man was riding his bicycle through the intersection with the right of way, but the SUV driver ran a red light and hit the man without stopping. 

The vehicle may have been a tan-colored SUV with front-end damage, Axtell said.
