The Beltrami Sheriff's Office is urging residents to keep their distance from a moose that was spotted Saturday afternoon on Lake Bemidji.

The sheriff's office asked that boaters do not confront or chase the moose. They also asked people viewing the moose from shore to stay away from the animal.

The sheriff's office said moose can be very unpredictable, especially when they are around buildings or people.
