The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible murder suicide that occurred near Mapleton.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded Friday to a residence outside Mapleton on reports of a domestic altercation. The two involved in the dispute were later identified as 57-year-old Timothy Moore and 49-year-old Lori Moore.


According to the sheriff's office, while deputies were responding, Timothy Moore told a dispatcher that he shot his wife and planned to take his own life.

When officer arrived, they found both Timothy and Lori Moore had died from apparent gunshot wounds.

While authorities continue to investigate, the sheriff's department said preliminary findings are consistent with murder-suicide.
