Anoka-Hennepin School District officials say about 25 percent of Minnesota’s third-graders don’t read at grade level.

To change that statistic, the school district is looking for tutors to work with students in kindergarten through third grade as part of a partnership with the Minnesota Reading Corps.

Tutors are asked to commit for a year starting this August. They will be trained by the Minnesota Reading Corps and will have help from a licensed teacher at the school. Tutors will also get a monthly stipend, health insurance and compensation toward college costs.
