According to the Medina Police Department, a man was struck and killed on Highway 55 Friday night.

At 8:58 p.m., Medina Police Officers responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Highway 55 at County Road 116 in Medina.

The release stated that the pedestrian was running northbound across Highway 55 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 55.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol was on scene completing the reconstruction of the accident and the incident is still under investigation. 

The pedestrian was identified as a 54-year-old Paul Michael Piekarski, from Hamel.

The driver, 55-year-old Janet McMullen of Buffalo, was not injured and no alcohol was involved, the report said.
