Early Saturday morning, police say three people were shot and injured in Bloomington at the Comfort Inn on 1321 East 78th Street.

Just after 4 a.m., Bloomington dispatch received multiple calls regarding shots fired at the hotel. According to a Bloomington Police Department press release, officers arrived on the scene and found two adult males from Chicago in the lobby suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. They were both treated and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

A third adult male from Chicago was also shot but left the scene prior to police arrival. He was located at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury where he was initially treated before being transported to Regions Hospital. His injuries were also listed as non-life threatening. 

Police believe she shooting was the result of a robbery that involved recently purchased cell phones. Police say the victims were loading a vehicle at the hotel when they were approached by the suspects.

The investigation remains active and further details will be released as more information is obtained.
