One person is dead following a house fire near Roosevelt High School early Sunday.

According to a press release, at approximately 3:20 a.m. the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a fire in a small 1 1/2 story single family home located at 4217 25th Avenue South.

Crews arrived to find the fire showing from the first floor. Fire was found to have extended into the second floor, inside of the walls. The fire was extinguished using hand lines in approximately 10 minutes. 

Searches were conducted on all floors of the structure. During a secondary search, a deceased female resident was found on the first floor of the structure.

The fire-related death marks the second in the City of Minneapolis this year.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
