Deputies recover body of swimmer from lake in central Minnesota

Authorities recovered the body of a swimmer in an apparent drowning Thursday night in Long Prairie.

According to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a missing swimmer around 7:08 p.m. near Lake Charlotte beach. Witnesses were trying to find a 21-year-old man in the water.

A dive team found the victim in about 20 feet of water just after 9 p.m., the sheriff’s office stated. Drone and watercraft searches were also deployed.

The incident is under investigation, and the victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
