Animal Humane Society now open for walk-in visitors

The Animal Humane Society (AHS) said on Tuesday that it’s reopening programs and services to the public after shuttering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programming and services include welcoming walk-in visitors to adoption centers, starting this week. The AHS added that they are following state and federal health guidance and will require masks indoors for all staff, volunteers and visitors regardless of vaccination status.

Adoption centers no longer need appointments for people interested in meeting adoptable animals at AHS. Visitors can stop into any of the adoption centers during regular business hours (weekdays noon to 8 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Other services and programs reopening to the public are listed as follows:

• Training classes return to all locations.
• Volunteer applications reopen. More opportunities will become available in the coming weeks.
• Intake and veterinary center lobbies reopen by Aug. 9.
• Education programs return to in-person starting in September. Be sure to check AHS’s website for more details and updates.
• Whisker Whirl, one of AHS’s biggest fundraising events, will be held on Sept. 30 at Quincy Hall in northeast Minneapolis. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 16.
