9-year-old boy injured from shooting in St. Cloud

A 9-year-old boy suffered from a gunshot wound in St. Cloud on Saturday night.

According to the St. Cloud Police Department, at 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at 1600 block of 16th Street Southeast.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they located a 9-year-old boy inside the entryway to the building who had a single gunshot wound considered to be not life-threatening, said police.

St. Cloud Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance provided medical aid to the victim and transported him to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

According to police, the victim who lives in the building was standing near the main entry door to the apartment complex bringing in items from a vehicle when he was struck by a single gunshot fired from an unknown location.

Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot.

The incident remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
