A retired Minnesota Army National Guard soldier is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

Gary Kuebler, 55, of Sleepy Eye, had both kidneys removed a few months ago after suffering an injury while serving in Iraq.

"We got hit with a lot of explosives and stuff," Kuebler said. "They figured from the chemicals over there – got into my immune system and basically went into my kidneys."

Now there's a push by family and friends on social media to help find Kuebler a donor.

"Pray every day. Every morning when I get up and every night when I go to bed," Kuebler said. "Hopefully I'll find a donor soon."

Kuebler is looking for a healthy kidney transplant donor over the age 21 and under the age of 65 with O positive blood.
