According to a report by WalletHub, Minnesota is the least stressed state in America.

The study came out before the April blizzard, which was the snowiest April storm on record in Minnesota.

The study helped compared the states to determine which had high and low stress levels. Categories such as average hours worked per week, personal bankruptcy rate, and much more helped determined that Minnesota was the least stressed state in the U.S..

It seems that Minnesota had the lowest levels for work-related, money-related, family-related, and health-and-safety-related stress.

Stress Levels in Minnesota (1=Most Stressed, 25=Avg.):

  • 42nd – Avg. Hours Worked per Week
  • 43rd – Share of Adults Getting Adequate Sleep
  • 49th ­– % of Adults in Fair/Poor Health
  • 29th – Job Security
  • 51st – Median Credit Score
  • 44th – Housing Affordability
  • 46th – % of Population Living Below Poverty Line
  • 48th – Divorce Rate
  • 38th – Crime Rate per Capita
  • 48th – Psychologists per Capita

On the other hand, Louisiana is the state with the highest stress levels. Louisiana was in the top five for most average hours worked per week, lowest credit store, highest percentage of population living below poverty line, highest divorce rate, highest crime rate, and fewer psychologists per capita.

Top Five States with High Stress Levels

  1. Louisiana
  2. New Mexico
  3. West Virginia
  4. Mississippi
  5. Nevada

States like South Dakota (47), Iowa (48), Utah (49), North Dakota (50), and Minnesota (51) had the lowest stress levels in the nations.
