Inside Your Health: FDA Approves 1st Gene Therapy

On Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration issued what it called "an historic action."

The agency approved the first gene therapy available in the united states.

It's called Kymriah, and gives some patients with leukemia a second chance to recover.

KSTP medical expert Dr. Archelle Georgiou tells us why some doctors think this could lead to a new approach for treating cancer and other serious diseases.
