Some food service workers at U.S. Bank Stadium did not receive all of the money they are owed for hours worked in a recent round of paychecks. The hours worked were during events hosted at the new stadium since it opened in July.
A worker alerted 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS to the issue and wrote, “They are messing up a lot of people’s paychecks, not giving them gratuity on events--- or hours they have worked are messed up.”
The error comes at a time when those workers will likely be very busy; tens of thousands of fans will descend on the stadium Friday and Saturday for back-to-back concerts.
The worker also said she received conflicting information when she asked who she needed to speak with to address the problem.
A spokesperson for Aramark, the company that operates food services at the stadium, wrote, “There have been some payroll discrepancies that we are working with the union to resolve.” He continued, “We greatly appreciate our employee’s contributions and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused them.”
A representative with Unite Here! Local 17, which represents the workers, confirmed the union is working with Aramark to fix the problem as quickly as possible. He described the situation as “short term.”
Both groups referenced the complexity of starting up a large operation like the one at U.S. Bank Stadium. Neither could provide an estimate of the number of workers with affected paychecks.
