A Brooklyn Park man is in jail after police say he allegedly kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old girl he met online.
Tony Xiong, 35, allegedly chatted with the girl online and told her he was 23-years-old. According to the criminal complaint, he drove to Milwaukee on March 21 and brought her back to a residence in Minneapolis.
Two days later, Wisconsin authorities became aware of the girl’s situation after she was able to gain access to a computer to alert her family of her whereabouts, who then contacted police.
Minnesota officers were notified and the teen was found locked in the bathroom of Xiong’s home in the 7900 block of Kyle Avenue North of Brooklyn Park.
The victim told police Xiong had raped her three times.
Upon questioning, Xiong admitted knowing the girl was a minor. However, he claimed he was marrying the victim and that his actions were permissible.
Xiong has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and false imprisonment. If convicted, he faces up to 18 years in prison, a $35,000 fine, or both.
