LOS ANGELES (AP) - One of the minds behind the "Spoongbridge and Cherry" sculpture at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden has died.
Coosje van Bruggen died Saturday in her Los Angeles home after fighting breast cancer. She was 66.
Van Bruggen often collaborated with her artist-husband Claes Oldenburg on his giant sculptures.
One of their collaborations is the "Spoonbridge and Cherry" sculpture - that giant aluminum spoon holding a cherry at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
Their other collaborations include a 38-foot-tall replica of an upended flashlight on the campus of the University of Las Vegas and a mammoth bicycle that appears to be half-buried at Parc de la Villette in Paris.
