Duluth's first homicide of the year appears to be over drugs

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - Police in Duluth say one man has died after a drug deal turned violent.

Police responded to a shooting at 10:10 p.m. Saturday at an apartment and found two men with gunshot wounds.

Duluth Police Deputy Chief Michael Tusken says both were taken to area hospitals, and one of them died Sunday morning during surgery. The other was in stable condition.

Tusken says a third man was found near the scene who they say had head and facial injuries from being pistol whipped. That man was treated for his injuries and released.

The men's names are not being released yet.

No arrests have been made, and authorities say they'll continue to investigate the case.

Police say it's Duluth's first homicide of the year.
