University of Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill announced a new fund Thursday morning to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.

Kill has suffered several high-profile seizures at Gophers football games, and now he wants to help others with epilepsy.

He and wife Rebecca announced a $100,000 donation to start the Chasing Dreams Coach Kill Fund at a press conference at Kieran's Irish Pub in Minneapolis. Kill said he wants to raise at least $500,000 in the near future.

"It's something that a lot of people don't know about," he said. "We need to learn how to handle it."

Kill's announcement is part of the Foundation's Rise Above Seizures Day, where people across Minnesota and North Dakota will raise epilepsy awareness with creative displays of balloons and educational events.

Approximately 60,000 people in the two states have epilepsy.

A big part of Kill's donation will go to schools so they can help educate children on how to handle seizures at school.
