Brandi joined 5 Eyewitness News in January 2014. In addition to working as a news Anchor and Reporter, Brandi serves as a fill-in Co-Host on the station's daily lifestyle show, Twin Cities Live (TCL).
Before returning home to the Twin Cities, Brandi worked as a Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist at NBC 7 San Diego (KNSD) from 2011-2013. She covered breaking news, crime and politics. While at KNSD, she also served as a regular on-air contributor for "Politically Speaking", the station's weekly public affairs show.
Brandi worked as a Reporter/Video Journalist/Bell County Bureau Chief at News 8 Austin from 2008-2009. She covered Fort Hood and its surrounding communities.
Brandi's first on-air position was as the Political Reporter at the NBC Affiliate (KFYR) in Bismarck, North Dakota from 2006-2008. She covered statewide elections and legislative sessions.
Brandi began her career behind-the-scenes as a Production Assistant at MSNBC from 2005-2006.
She served as an Intern with Dateline NBC in 2004, as well as with The Washington Center during the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City.
Brandi earned a North Dakota Associated Press Award for best Series/Documentary in 2007. On assignment in Guatemala, she covered political, educational and cultural exchanges between North Dakota teachers and Guatemalans via The God's Child Project.
She also earned a North Dakota Associated Press Award for excellence in Political Reporting in 2006.
Brandi earned her Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from George Washington University in Washington DC. Her concentration was International Development. Brandi was a full-time graduate school student in Washington, DC from 2009-2011.
Brandi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2004.
Her minor was Spanish. She studied abroad in Barcelona and Salamanca, Spain.
Originally from Minnesota, Brandi graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1999. She went to Minnetonka Middle School East and Deephaven Elementary School.
Brandi is a member of National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and Twin Cities Black Journalists (TCBJ).
Brandi enjoys watching movies & documentaries, going on hikes and checking out live arts performances. She's conversational in Spanish and still keeps in touch with her friends in Spain. For several years, Brandi was a gymnast at TAGS Edina.
