A local businessman gave a 6-year-old a special birthday present- a check for $66,000.

Johannes Marliem donated the money to Como Friends in honor of a Jaya, a red-haired orangutan at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul.

Marliem wants to preserve the red-haired orangutan, as the species is native to Indonesia, where Marliem was born.

Jaya, whose name means "victorious" in the bahasa Indonesian language, was delivered in Minneapolis by the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine. It was the ninth successful orangutan birth by C-section.

Marliem adopted two orangutans at the national conservatory in Bali.
