2 Men Receive Longest Sentences in Minn. for Sex Trafficking
Two men have received the longest sex trafficking sentences in Minnesota history.
According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, 24-year-old Fontai Diggs of Northfield received more than 22 years in prison and 20-year-old Timothy Cross of St. Paul was sentenced to more than 21 years for the sex trafficking of a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman in St. Paul.
The two men were both found guilty on July 25 of one count of engaging in sex trafficking in the first-degree and one count of engaging in sex trafficking in the second-degree. The jury also found Cross guilty of one count of possession of a firearm by an ineligible person and one count of assault in the second-degree.
According to the criminal complaint, on June 16, 2012, St. Paul police responded to a call that a teen was being prostituted by two men. The victim told police she traveled to St. Paul from Duluth with an 18-year-old woman. They said they were forced into prostitution from hotels and on the streets to make money for Cross and Fontai.
One of the women claimed when she did not make enough money, Cross would beat and strangle her.
