Report: Jail Wouldn't Accept Sauk Rapids Mayor Arrested on Suspicion of DWI

A new reports say the Mayor of Sauk Rapids was too drunk to go to jail.

State Troopers arrested Brad Gunderson Sunday afternoon for DWI.

The St. Cloud Times reports the Benton County jail doesn't accept inmates with a blood alcohol level above 0.25.

The state trooper who gave Gunderson a preliminary tests  says he blew above that level.

The trooper took him home instead of to a medical facility, which is normal procedure when someone has a blood alcohol level that high.

Gunderson has not been charged.

Authorities say they're waiting for final results.
