More Vitamins May Help Reduce Autism Risk in Children

A simple vitamin may play a big role in lowering a woman's chance of having a child with Autism.

Researchers found women who took Folic Acid for the four months before and eight weeks after becoming pregnant had a nearly 40 percent lower risk of their child developing autism.

Folic Acid, also known as vitamin B9 is found in leafy green vegetables and pre-natal vitamins.

Starting early in pregnancy is the key.

Researchers found women who didn't start taking Folic Acid until mid-pregnancy did not lower their risk.

The study appears in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
