St. Paul Man Charged with Alleged Theft at Fridley Wal-Mart

A St. Paul man has been charged for allegedly trying to steal two computers and a food mixer from the Fridley Wal-Mart.
Officers were called to the Wal-Mart on University Avenue on Sunday, Nov. 18, on a report of a theft. Employees say a man put two computers and a food mixer into a cart and left the store without paying for them.
A loss-prevention employee confronted the man, and he left the cart and ran to a pickup truck, according to the criminal complaint.
A Fridley officer found the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as 47-year-old Olan Gerard McGruder of St. Paul. The loss-prevention employee at Wal-Mart confirmed McGruder’s identity.
McGruder has been charged with one count of theft. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
