EmailTeen Dies after Being Hit by Vehicle in Onamia
The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office says a 14-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle in Onamia Friday night.
It happened just after 7 p.m. on 350th Street between Hwy. 169 and 125th Avenue. The sheriff's office says the girl was walking to a football game when she was hit from behind.
The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man from rural Onamia, stopped and notified authorities after the crash.
The girl was taken to Mille Lacs Hospital, where she died. Her name has not been released.
The sheriff's office says alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
