'Politics of the New Deal' Lecture Comes to U of M
A lecture discussing the “Politics of the New Deal” is coming to the University of Minnesota this month.
When the stock market collapsed in 1929, the effects rippled through the nation in the form of bankruptcies, unemployment, and poverty. President Franklin D. Roosevelt then instigated the New Deal to save Americans from the Great Depression.
Noted labor historian Hy Berman will discuss the 1930’s New Deal experience and its legacy today.
The lecture is part of the LearningLife program and takes place from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Continuing Education and Conference Center. It costs $50.
