Email13-Year-Old Boy Rescued From Lake Superior Dies
Authorities say the 13-year-old boy who disappeared in Lake Superior for more than half an hour Monday has died.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says Jeffery Watson Jr. of Duluth died Tuesday afternoon at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Authorities say the boy had been swimming with friends near an abandoned grain dock Monday afternoon when he went underwater and did not resurface. By the time he was located by search crews, Watson had been submerged for approximately 32 minutes.
He received emergency medical treatment at St. Mary's Hospital before being transferred to Minneapolis.
A family spokesman from Duluth's Church of Restoration issued the following statement: "Jeffery was loved by everyone and will be missed by his community and church."
