5 EYEWITNESS NEWS PRESENTS: A Journey of Hope

From Minnesota to Africa, it's a journey of hope. Twin Cities firefighters, medics, teachers, and nurses are helping to save lives halfway around the world - in Kenya. A delegation of Minnesotans, aided by the Minneapolis-based International Leadership Institute, went to the Minneapolis sister city of Eldoret, Kenya, in July 2011 to bring vital training, critically-needed supplies, and inspiration to a country that needs all the help it can get. 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reporter Mark Albert and photojournalist Jared Bergerson went along to cover Minnesotans making a difference, half a world away.

MONDAY, September 19, 2011 at 10pm: Minneapolis firefighters train Kenyans to fight fires, rescue the helpless, and save lives. THURSDAY, September 29, 2011 at 10pm: Twin Cities medics teach critical skills and donate the first-ever ambulance of its kind to western Kenya.  WEDNESDAY, October 5, 2011 at 10pm: Minnesotans bring educational supplies and hope to school children in Eldoret. SUNDAY, November 6, 2011 at 10pm: Ancient and mysterious fossils - buried for millennia - are being discovered on an island in Kenya by a team of researchers from Minnesota.   THURSDAY, November 24, 2011 at 10pm: Minnesotans bestow a unique name on a baby born during their goodwill visit to a Kenyan health clinic.
