April 23, 2009: A Year Of TCL

Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun.  It seems like just yesterday I was sitting on a chair besides John, introducing ourselves to you, our viewers, and telling everyone that I was so nervous that I could “throw up”.  Now, 12 months and 256 shows later, I still start the show sitting next to John and loving every minute of it.  We’ve had a lot of fun, interesting and touching moments, but when I’m asked what my favorite moment is, I can’t really come up with one.  Instead I think my favorite part of doing the show is the people.  I got into journalism because I love telling other people’s stories and meeting them and talking with them.  Twin Cities Live is all connecting our community.  It never fails, when I’m feeling kind of stressed like any mom who works outside of the home, well, any mom for that matter, I go out on a story and meet an extraordinary person overcoming some great obstacle.  I go home at night always counting my blessings and with things in perspective.  Probably my second favorite aspect of TCL is the live audience.  Fridays are my favorite days because we have 50 people sitting there, reacting to whatever we have on the show that day.  I’ve watched them cry, laugh, eat, eat some more and then laugh a little longer.  At the end of the show we always get a chance to chat with them and they always have a kind word to say.  I know when you look back on a period of time, it’s natural to pick a favorite moment, but I can’t.  That would be like trying to pick a favorite child…not possible.  So thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell your stories and for all your support.  Everyone here at TCL appreciates it.  Now let’s get started on year two!
