March 19, 2009 – Trying My Hand At Radio

Many years ago, I attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis.  It was there that I decided to head in the direction of television instead of radio.  I loved radio, but when it was just me in front of a microphone I had a hard time filling the time (I know, can you believe that, I love to talk).  Over the years, I’ve filled in for vacationing radio hosts and loved doing it, but I have never had as much fun as I have had this week filling in for Melissa on The Greg and Melissa Show on KS95.  Even though I have to get up at 5 am, I’m excited to get there and chat with Greg and hear from their listeners.  So far, I’ve received some great advice on a couple of things going on in my life, from their listeners and learned about some news songs.  Since I have a 3 and 4 year old I’m pretty well versed in all the Disney Princess songs, but top 40 singles sometimes escape me.  The best part though….no high heals!!!!!!  I love it.  I can wear jeans, a sweatshirt and sneakers.  The girlie girl in me though still counts down the minutes to Twin Cities Live when I get to dress up and put on fun little shoes.  So, though I couldn’t handle the long hours forever, this week has been so much to be able to live the best of both worlds.  By the way, if you ever wondered if Greg is as nice as he sounds, I can tell you he definitely is!
