December 17, 2008 – Thank You Santa!

I thought no one could love Santa more then I did as a child.  I couldn’t wait until Christmas Eve, after church services, to come home and find my wrapped gift from St. Nick himself.  I loved visiting Santa once a year to tell him that I’ve been a good girl and what I wanted before he would send me off with a tasty treat.  There was no doubt I loved Santa, but my love for him grew even deeper as a parent.

Maybe I’m wrong, but Santa is the best parenting tool I’ve found so far, nothing beats him.  I will say it only worksfrom September to January, after that I have to rely on the Easter Bunny and then I’m on my own from April to September.  When my usual angels start acting up all I have to pull out is a “Santa is watching” and then whip into shape.

So now as an adult, I can’t decide which was better, the magic of a wish granted for 4 months of parenting made easy.  Either way, Santa is a miracle worker.  Thanks St. Nick, I owe you one.
