BARRON: Aviator Lindbergh's home might close, see it before it's too late.

I love aviation, the sensation of being in an airplane hearing and feeling the wind stream past the wings. In fact I think I get my best sleep when I fly. Flight is really a marvel of human imagination and the determination to build a machine back in the day that could become one with the sky. It really is a liberating feeling to soar high above the clouds and see for hundreds of miles. The bumps of wind add to the enjoyment, as long as those bumps aren't too rough.

Aviation has come a long way through the decades with jet engines, and soon the first sub-orbital plane.

In our own backyard, there is a home which represents good old fashion Americana. It's the home of Charles lindbergh about two miles south of Little Falls, Minnesota. Lindbergh himself became an instant celebrity in 1927 when he flew across the Atlantic from New York to Paris in 33 hours. There is a full scale replica of the Spirit of St. Louis cockpit at the Charles Lindbergh State Park. The house itself is preserved along the Mississippi in Little Falls.

If you're feeling inspired to go visit, you had better hurry. Last month the Minnesota Historical Society put the Lindbergh home on a preliminary list of places it plans to close due to budget cuts.

The good news is that for the next couple weeks it will remain open for all to see. You can visit the website at:  http://www.mnhs.org/places/sites/lh/
