MCLEAN: A Good Day for Charity

I boarded the light rail, headed for Minnehaha Falls and the AIDS Walk Sunday morning with an extra long sleeved shirt and a fleece. It looked like it was going to be another cool and windy day so I planned ahead. Then, when I got there they gave me a T-shirt. So of course, with two t-shirts and two more layers I was completely over prepared for the day. It was a little windy, but it ended up being beautiful and sunny.

The AIDS walk if great for the obvious reasons, like raising money and awareness for a devastating disease, but there are also a few perk that make it a lot of fun. The companies that sponsor the walk offer snacks along the way. Never one to pass by free food, I grabbed bananas, coffee, breakfast bars and cookies. That's were the extra layers came in handy. There was still a long light rail ride after the walk and I was worried I may need more snacks. So I put a couple fruit rolls ups in the sleeve of a shirt and kept on walking. Don't worry I didn't raid the food stop, I just grabbed a couple things. In the end being over prepared worked out. My friend and I had a great time walking on a beautiful day and helping the Minnesota AIDS Project.
