Updated: 05/20/2009 8:42 PM KSTP.com | BARRON: Seeding flowers then painting the 3 season room while basking in 97 degrees The smell of freshly cut grass, and paint. That's the way it is around the Barron pad these days. Lately, warm winds have been making this experience even better. I'm sprucing up the three season room. It had been dusty, with spiders, wasps and the like. Sometimes it takes a little inspiration from others to motivate, and set the plan into motion. So what I thought would take a few hours has turned into a ten hour job... spread out over the course of a couple weeks :) Anyway, I'm using this environmentally friendly paint, but I have to say the wood really sucked that stuff up. I have been coating a re-coating to have a solid look. There are many windows with intricate wood molding. I'm using white paint for the that, then a very very light green along the main wood base which gives it the right touch to help compliment the outside greenery. I plan to string some of those tiny white holiday lights along the top. The floor is one with those white punctuated tiles from the sixties. I bought one of those 5 X 7 rugs from Target to place inside the room. it's a light green colored rug with large floral prints... and it looks cool. What's been nice is the warm weather. While painting I keep some of the windows open and it helps get rid of the paint odor while helping to dry the paint faster. Just outside, I wanted to have a bunch of wildflowers, so a week ago, I emptied a bag of seeds, and am just waiting for them to nudge their way out of the ground. This is certainly the time to get things accomplished, and best of all it doesn't break the bank. The Rug was on sale for $45.00 and the paint, tray, rollers, and brushes came to just under $60.00 dollars. What a nice transformation! |
