Obama asks when Afghanistan strategy could start

(AP) WASHINGTON - The White House says President Obama spent more than two hours with his war council talking about how long it would take to implement various strategies he has been presented.

Obama met Wednesday in the White House Situation Room with his senior national security team talking about what resources would be needed to turn around the 8-year-old war. The White House says Afghanistan must improve and the United States is not committed to staying there forever.

White House officials repeated that Obama has not made a decision.
