Over the weekend, my husband and I took our daughter Austen (she's now 15 1/2 months old) to Sesame Street Live to see "Elmo's Green Thumb" at the Target Center.  I remember when I was a young girl growing up in Oklahoma and Sesame Street Live came to town.  I won tickets and took my family to the show.  It was wonderful and I have great memories of it to this day.  So when I heard the Sesame Street Live was coming to Minneapolis, I wanted Austen to share in the fun too!  We're big fans of all the kids shows on PBS, and when TPT-Kids was doing its fundraising campaign in December, one of the donation options included tickets to Sesame Street Live.  For us, it was a win-win: supporting a great cause and getting tickets to a great show.

The cast of Sesame Street Live consists of many of my favorites from when I was growing up: Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Cookie Monster, and the Count.  They were all part of the fun...appearing larger than life on stage.

Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street gang take the stage!

But the star of the show, of course, was Elmo.  Austen's long-time favorite kids character has been and still is Winnie the Pooh (we brought him along to see Elmo, in fact), but a close second has recently become Elmo.  Austen watches Sesame Street in the mornings and will go up to the TV screen and say "Elmo!"  "Elmo!" when she sees him.  We knew she would love to see him right here in Minneapolis, and we were right!

Austen's got rhythm, and when the Sesame Street Live characters were singing and dancing on stage, Austen was rocking back and forth, clapping, and tapping as she sat in Daddy's lap.  I had almost as much fun watching her as I did watching the show!

At Intermission, Austen quenches her thirst with some milk!

Austen was such a good girl!  During the first half, she was absolutely riveted to the stage, enthralled with every character, and every song.  At intermission, she had milk and some puffs before settling in for the 2nd half of the show.  Truth be told, she got a little antsy near the end, which is understandable for a 15-month-old.  Overall, it was a great outing and something I'm sure we'll probably do in the years to come if we have the chance.

After the show, it was so cute watching Austen wave goodbye to Elmo.  She woke up the next morning and said "Elmo!" "Elmo!"  It's a good thing we have all these pictures to show her so she'll get to relive it all over again!

Hope you had a great weekend too, and thanks as always for reading my blog!
