After spending two weeks traveling to and from Afghanistan and one week trying to catch up back at the station it was time for a real vacation. So I took last week off and went to California. The first stop was San Diego. My brother Blake and his wife Molly live in sunny Southern California- at least they tell me it's usually sunny. I was lucky enough to experience a rare San Diego rain fall. It poured almost the entire time I was there. In between one storm and the next I got to see some of the scenery and even went to the San Diego Zoo to see the pandas.

Then it was time to go north. My other brother Kyle lives in San Jose. He picked me up from the airport and we drove right out to Lake Tahoe. The good news about this leg of the trip is that while all that rain was falling in Southern California it was snowing in the mountains of Northern California. We spent the next day skiing through two feet of powder at Kirkwood.

Neither one of the brothers will be back in Minnesota for Christmas so I got to have a minnie holiday celebration with both of them. Now with Christmas day coming up tomorrow I get to have a big celebration with the rest of the family. Hope all of you are enjoying the holidays with your families too, Merry Christmas!
