It's good to be home. The trip to Afghanistan was quite the adventure. But, being able to sleep in my own bed instead of napping in a cot on a C130 is pretty nice too. We got in to the Twin Cities Friday night and had the weekend to relax. Monday turned into a busy day back at work. There's a lot to catch up on when you've been out of the loop for two weeks. Now that I'm getting up to speed again, I wanted to make sure to recognize some of the people who made this trip so interesting, informative and fun.

A lot of 133rd members are probably reading this at Bagram. So-- Cheese, Matt, Jeff, Josh, Jason, Lanny, Jill, Anthony, Marissa, Scott, Ben, Byron, Shawn, Sheree, and every one else, thanks. Joe and I are thinking of you and want to thank you for making our trip a success. We have a new appreciation for what the military does on a day to day basis. We're looking forward to your safe return from Afghanistan.

Joe and I flew over to Bagram Air Base with a Minnesota crew and flew back home with a crew from North Carolina. We're partial to the Minnesotans, but the Charlotte crew wasn't bad either. They were kind enough to let us hitch a ride. Along the way we stopped in Crete, England and back in Canada gain. This time we spent just one night there. After all that, flying commercially on Northwest back to the Twin Cities from Charlotte was quite a change.

In the course of this assignment in Afghanistan we found lots of military members with compelling stories. From the Minnesota and North Carolina Airmen, to the marines heading home, and the soldiers working in the hospital, every one is doing their best to serve their country. Whatever your political view is it's tough not to appreciate what the men and women on the ground are doing.
