SHERNO: Bumper. Cars.

There are flowers to tell us it's springtime. The leaves change to tell us it's fall.

Fenders laying on slick roads herald the real start of the winter driving season.

I spent the day Sunday reporting on spin-outs.  We had recorded a full day of Traffic Management Cameras. Cars in the ditch. On my way to work I saw a silver mini-van gracefully twirl on 94 ultimately facing east... to bad it was in the westbound lanes.  That said, I do have to give the driver points for style: while the mini-van turned a full 180 degree rotation...it stayed in it's lane. The effect was stunning!  A vehicle on a busy highway facing the wrong way... traffic flowing around it as if it were a common occurrence. And frankly Sunday, it was.

But that was Sunday. This was Monday morning and a big hunk of bumper had dislodged from it's host vehicle and now lay in the center of the highway like a plastic smile that had fallen off a car's face. And that just about describes it. Soon enough, the mother ship came into view...beyond the flashing lights. A car without a bumper is not a very happy car.
