We spent more time here in Canada then intended on the way to Afghanistan, now we are hoping to be out of here tomorrow and back home soon. The closer we get, the more anxious I am to get home. This has been a whirlwind adventure and it’s wearing me out now. Flying nine hours a day through multiple time zones can just throw you off. But the good part of making all these stops along the way is the chance to see some interesting places. When we left Afghanistan we flew in to Crete and spent the night. What a beautiful island. It was tough to find a good Internet connection to feed a story, but not so tough finding a great Greek salad to feed me. We stayed close to the water and even had some time to visit the local shops. Last night we stayed on a military base in England. That wasn’t quiet as exciting but they had a better Internet connection so we got a lot of work done there. As Joe and I file stories every day, the airmen we’re traveling with get to relax a little on the long tip back. They say even though they’re excited to get home the journey isn’t so bad. It helps them ease back into civilian life and back into central time zone. Once we get out of Canada we’re on the home stretch. |
