While any Airman will tell you their schedule is irregular they tend to work 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Leah and I have been working 20 hours on and 4 off. We go on a shoot on a mission for 12 hours, then come back to base camp and write, ingest video to our laptop, edit, compress the video to mp4, send the story back FTP to KSTP. While we babysit the progress bar the work goes into the wee hours of early morning. Then it’s pass out for four a few hours sleep and wake up to the next shoot. We have a short time in country and we tend to shoot two to three stories a day. Needless to say I have missed my quota of daily showers. I've had to keep my dusty shoes on to cover the stink of my smelly socks. My feet are really barking. This may paint an ugly picture, but it's also typical of what our fighting Airmen and Soldiers go through every day here in Afghanistan. Pew! |
