St. Paul's Rice Park Holiday Grand Opening on November 28
Saturday, November 28th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Experience the holiday magic of Rice Park powered by Xcel Energy with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS' Bill Lunn and Leah McLean. Capture the spirit of the holiday season at the Grand Opening Celebration featuring skating exhibitions, entertainment, and the official tree-lighting ceremony. This holiday tree is as tall and bright as the iconic Rockefeller Center tree in New York City. The gigantic tree in Rice Park will be lit 24 hours a day, seven days a week with 30,000 energy-efficient LED lights. The park will sparkle with millions of twinkling lights, classic Nutcracker and angel statues, and other holiday décor. And for a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, no wish is too big or too small. The Make a Wish Foundation of Minnesota has been granting wishes to children in our state for more than 25 years. At this year's Opening Ceremony Make A Wish Foundation of Minnesota will be selling candles for a suggested donation of $5 with a portion of proceeds going to help grant the wish of Kaya. Kaya is an eight-year-old from St. Cloud who enjoys above all else making art! This aspiring artist also has fun creating word pairs in the game Apples to Apples, playing the Wii, watching her favorite artists score votes on American Idol, and assembling stuffed animals at Build-A-Bear! Her Wish to go to Disney World was enthused by her love of animals because while in Orlando, Kaya plans on meeting all of her friends at Animal Kingdom and Sea World! This trip is a great way for courageous Kaya to take her mind off of her digestive, neuromuscular, and immune system disorders and simply enjoy her being a kid again.
