KSTP gives thanks, congrats to police for RNC action

It is rare when KSTP decides to take an editorial position.

But it's also rare when a community is faced with the complications of hosting thousands of delegates, politicians, activists and journalists.

For many people from the Twin Cities, the only part of the Republican National Convention they could see in person was the thousands of police officers from all over Minnesota, all over the country really, who were here to protect people and property.

Our reporters were in the middle of each disturbance that reared up in both St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Each of them reported police were calm and professional and measured when faced with protesters.

The police you saw on television were mostly faceless, hidden by helmets and gas masks.

But when we finally saw their faces, we saw men and women who were much more than cops dressed in black.

They were well trained and prepared to do a tough job.

So it is the opinion of the owners of KSTP that we owe a debt of gratitude to all the police officers on duty during the Republican National Convention.

Congratulations and thank you to the men and women in uniform.
