One man and two teenagers have been arrested in relation to a series of assaults and robberies in the north Metro, police reported Wednesday morning.
Coon Rapids police said Devonta James Lewis, 18, along with a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were arrested Tuesday at a residence in the north metro suburb.
The 17-year-old and 16-year-old are students at Coon Rapids High School.
Police said they recovered a sawed-off shotgun during the arrests.
The three suspects are tied to at least three of the five recent robberies in town, according to a Wednesday morning news release from the Coon Rapids Police Department.
Bryan Novak was a victim of one of the recent attacks in Coon Rapids. He was beaten and attacked last week while walking.
"I ran the six-blocks home and my daughter called police," Novak told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS earlier this week.
Novak spent four days in the hospital after suffering a cracked jaw.
"My upper jaw was cracked all the way across. Doctors had to put clamps in there to basically clamp it back together so it heals in place," he said.
The juveniles are being held in a detention center. The 18-year-old is in the Anoka County Jail and will be held until charges are filed.
Anyone with further information on the crimes is urged to contact the Coon Rapids Police Department at 763-767-6481 (after hours 763427-1212).
