WOODBURY, Minn. (AP) - A soldier from the Twin Cities area who was severely wounded a year ago while serving in the Minnesota National Guard in Iraq will get a new home.
Sgt. Marcus Kuboy's new, handicapped-accessible home in Woodbury comes from a national group called Homes for Our Troops.
The Robbinsdale native was hurt when his Humvee was bombed in Fallujah. The 30-year-old broke his back, arm and jaw, and got a bone infection that could still claim one of his legs.
His house will be the first the nonprofit group builds in Minnesota. Homes for Our Troops was started four years ago to benefit injured military men and women.
Kuboy's home - along with another house in Colorado - is being built to coincide with the upcoming Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
His house is expected to be finished in September.
