Investigators in Menomonie said it will be at least another week before they can determine the cause of a house fire that killed three Wisconsin-Scout college students.
Funeral services were held in St. Paul for 21-year-old April Englund, one of the three students killed.
"We both loved mash potatoes and we used to see who could eat the most on our plate at every family get together and gathering," said Crystal Anderson, Englund’s cousin.
Over a thousand mourners turned out for Englund’s visitation Wednesday evening. Her funeral was held at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, where her father is the long-time pastor.
"I couldn't believe it. I mean her of all people. We just talked and she was so young, so much more to do," said Tiffany Johnson.
Johnson met Englund when they were only five-years-old. They were close friends ever since.
"We just really clicked. It's just like we had always been friends forever and ever," she said.
Englund’s cousin, Amber Obitz, said she was especially close to Englund.
"She was always bright and beautiful. She just had it all."
"We always used to take naps on grandma's big couch together after stuffing our faces full of mashed potatoes. She loved mashed potatoes. That's all she would eat on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just plates of mashed potatoes and gravy," Obitz said.
The funeral’s sermon was delivered by Englund herself -- the church played back an audiotape of Englund speaking during the service for the church’s 150th anniversary celebration seven years ago.
