Emma Kissock is less than one year old, but she’s already faced more surgeries and medical problems than some people will face in a lifetime.
"She's just over 15 pounds," said her mother, Robin Kissock.
At two days old, Emma could fit in the palm of her father’s hand. A year later, she’s about half the size of the average baby girl.
Doctors have put a brace on her for her dislocated hip, a feeding tube in her stomach for nourishment, and a helmet to protect a flat spot on her head.
Emma is monitored at all times to make sure her apnea doesn’t keep her asleep.
Doctors told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Emma has endured illnesses ranging from bladder infections to pneumonia and bronchitis.
She’s undergone several surgeries and has been in seven hospitals in her short lifetime.
The most difficult thing for the Bloomington family and doctors is not knowing what ails Emma. Her family has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to find a problem and hope for a cure. But medical bills have begun taking their toll on her family.
There will be a benefit to help the Kissock family on Sunday. The spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church at 300 4th St. E. in Chaska. The event is from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family. For more information, click here.
